Maggie Oliver Foundation New year update

Each year Lie Detector Test UK reviews its donations to and sponsorship of charities.  We are happy to offer our continued support to the Maggie Oliver Foundation. Lie Detector Test UK ensure all of our charities we donate to align with our values and efforts to strive for a brighter future.

The Maggie Oliver Foundation

Maggie Oliver set up the foundation in 2019. Maggie was a former Greater Manchester Police detective. The charity focuses on survivors of childhood sexual abuse, helping them to transform their “Pain into Power”.

Maggie resigned her position with Greater Manchester Police in 2012. She put all her effort towards exposing the Rochdale Grooming Gang scandal. Maggie was disgusted by police mishandling of child sex abuse cases. She turned whistle-blower so that the public could be better informed.  It took 3 years for Greater Manchester Police to apologise in 2015. The apology was for its failure to investigate child sexual exploitation allegations adequately. The cases date from between 2008 and 2010.

The future of the foundation in 2022

Maggie has set her vision in motion by building an amazingly caring, supportive and understanding team. A team who all share the same values and a fierce determination. They want to make a real difference in the lives of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Values such as kindness, empathy, honesty, fairness, trust, human decency, and justice are what drives them. In addition, by sharing the stories and experiences of survivors they also intend to expose and address injustice. They want to expose the misuse of power and corruption wherever they find it.

“Pain into Power” Phoneline

Due to COVID 19 the pilot centre in Rochdale decided to close its doors just a few weeks after opening. This forced the foundation to make decisions about the future. The charity decided it was best to put the centre on hold due to social distancing and the new regulations. Instead they turned their efforts into setting up our sexual abuse phone line called “Pain into Power”. The phone line offers immediate support and has become a lifeline to many during lockdown.
