Our client booked an Oxfordshire lie detector test for her son when his RAF training came to an end and he didn’t pass out.  She didn’t believe his story as to why he’d failed.

Barbara’s Case

Vince had joined the RAF at 19, he’d been told by his mother that he had to. His father had left a couple of years ago not least due to arguments about Vince’s antisocial behaviour and getting into trouble. Barbara had given him an ultimatum and shortly after that, he’d enlisted. The training was going to be 10 weeks and then Vince would be passing out as an RAF officer. Barbara was really proud he’d finally managed to do something with his life and was really looking forward to seeing him in his uniform.

Passing out

During his training Vince was came home on the odd weekend when he was allowed to but after 10 weeks, passing out day didn’t come. Barbara asked Vince about it and he said he was coming home as he hadn’t made the grade. It seemed odd to her, he’d managed to stay the whole time but suddenly hadn’t made it? He’d been so dedicated and really seemed to like the training. At least that’s what he told her. When Vince came home, she’d asked why and he’d mumbled something about not being fit enough. Barbara reminded him why he’d had to join in the first place. It was the RAF or finding a new place to live. She couldn’t deal with him stealing out of her purse for alcohol or drugs anymore.  He’d been doing it for years. Vince had never managed to hold down a job and she’d supported him up until now.

Bad behaviour

Barbara tried to find out from the RAF training centre why Vince hadn’t made the grade but they wouldn’t tell her. It was confidential as he was over 18. Speaking to Vince’s aunt, Sharon, they decided to book Vince in for our Oxfordshire lie detector test to find out the truth. Barbara had her suspicions but hoped the test would eliminate her worst fears. Vince knew he had to take the polygraph test. If he didn’t he’d be out on his ear with nowhere to go. His father certainly wouldn’t help him.

 Oxfordshire lie detector test

The day of the lie detector test in Oxford came and Vince seemed confident when he came out. As they waited for the results, Barbara felt guilty about making him sit it in the first place. However, when she received the results she was devastated. Vince had been kicked out of the RAF, that part was true but he’d been thrown out for taking drugs. The Oxfordshire lie detector test also revealed he hadn’t made it through the full 10 weeks training. He’d been kicked out after just 3 weeks. Barbara did tell her son to leave but after a lot of soul searching agreed he could stay. She warned him that if he did anything wrong again, she’d book him in for another lie detector test and that would be the end of it.

Vince has taken an apprenticeship with a local electrician and is doing well. Barbara keeps a watchful eye on him to ensure he is sticking to his word.
