Epsom polygraph test proves affair

A Epsom polygraph test recently proved an affair when our client Julie came to us suspecting her husband Kevin guilty of having an affair during lockdown last year.

The beginning

Julie and Kevin have been married for over 20 years after meeting at university in Epsom. The pair have been inseparable ever since.  However, during lockdown their youngest daughter moved to start university. Julie recalls how this had a dramatic change on their relationship, now the pair were completely alone as a couple again with no children at home.

Suspicions start

During the winter lockdown Julie explains how things became worse and worse. Her and Kevin were arguing constantly and unable to escape one another for a break. Once the restrictions eased in the spring, Julie went to live with her sister in the centre of Epsom for two weeks to take a break. When she returned, she noticed that Kevin was trying really hard to make things up with her. He bought her flowers, cooked her dinner and even ran her a candlelit bath. Julie assumed it was because he had missed her, but one evening she found a stash of receipts in his bedside drawer when she was looking for her reading glasses.

Confrontation

The receipts varied from flowers, to lingerie and even petrol stations that were located in Brighton. Confused as to what was going on, Julie confronted Kevin when he came up to bed. Kevin explained that the receipts were for gifts he has bought her, or for presents for her birthday which was only a month away. He said the petrol receipts were from work, as he had been called into their Brighton office whilst she was away with her sister. But Julie didn’t know they had a Brighton office, and couldn’t help feeling things weren’t right. She rang her sister the next day and her sister recommend Lie Detector Test UK. Her sister explained how she had booked a polygraph test when she suspected her cousin guilty of stealing money from her wallet.

The test

Julie rang our Epsom office and booked a polygraph test for the following week. She told Kevin when he got home what she had done. Kevin was upset and hurt that Julie didn’t trust him. However, agreed he would take the test to show her she didn’t need to worry. The next week the couple showed up at our offices, and Kevin took his test. The results showed Kevin was lying. Kevin asked to speak to Julie and immediately broke down crying to her. He confessed how he had been having an affair for the past few months. Kevin said he had realised it was all a huge mistake when Julie went way for the two weeks, and he had gone to Brighton to call the whole thing off with the other woman. He asked Julie if they could try couples counselling, and said he didn’t know what he would do without her in his life. Julie agreed to try couples counselling but said she would need time, she has since moved back in with her sister temporarily whilst she sorts things out with Kevin.
