Frankie’s Case

Coventry lie detector test recently revealed more than our client bargained for.

Since the outbreak of Covid 19 both Frankie and her boyfriend, Matt, had worked from their home in Coventry. They followed all the Covid rules during lockdowns and the tier system. Frankie was scared of catching the virus and was quite happy to remain in the house whilst Matt went to do the essentials shopping.

The issues begin

The couple enjoyed having the extra time together for the first few months of the lockdown. However, things started to turn 6 months into the pandemic. Frankie noticed that Matt’s weekly essentials shop was becoming longer and longer.

Shopping for hours

Frankie noticed Matt’s shopping trips were now taking up to 3 hours. Worried something wasn’t right she decided to ask Matt why he was taking so long. Matt said his mental health had been suffering from being cooped up without a change of scene. He said that after doing the shop, he had started to take a flask of coffee to the park and found it relaxing.

Feeling empathetic towards Matt, Frankie said she would like to join him for his next coffee trip to Coventry. However, Frankie didn’t get the response she had hoped for. Matt said that he enjoyed the head space and he wanted to keep that time for himself. He argued he had been going “Stir crazy” and that he didn’t think Frankie joining him was a good idea.

Suspicions grow

Later that week, Frankie realised she had forgotten to write down eggs on the weekly shopping list. Matt had already been to Coventry shopping, so she decided she would brave going herself. Calling in at the couple’s local supermarket, Frankie was surprised to see Matt was at the checkouts.

Confused why Matt was at the supermarket when he said he was going to drop off a parcel at the post office, Frankie decided to spy from afar on her boyfriend. She could see he was flirting with a checkout assistant. The couple seemed close, and Frankie couldn’t recognise who the girl was.

Checkout time

Watching Matt say goodbye to the assistant with a kiss on the cheek, Frankie decided to use that till to checkout on. Walking up to the checkout, Frankie started to realise just how young the girl on the checkout was. She guessed the girl to be only 19, a good ten years younger than her boyfriend.

Frankie didn’t say anything to the girl and instead took her shopping and went back to her car. She decided she would confront Matt later that evening.

Confrontation

Matt came home an hour after Frankie, and Frankie immediately asked him if they could talk. She told him she had seen him at the Coventry supermarket kissing and flirting with the young girl. Matt tried to deny anything had happened, and said it was simply a young family friend. Feeling that Matt was lying, Frankie decided to look through his phone that night whilst he was asleep. She could see multiple sexts between him and a contact called “k” with a kiss emoji next to the name. The girls uniform had a Katie name badge, so she assumed that the texts must be from her. Suddenly dropping the phone in shock, Frankie finally saw all theevidence she needed. A young and naked Katie displayed with her face in shot, in a naughty rude selfie.

The next morning

Frankie told Matt she wanted him to take a lie detector test and had found a testing centre in Coventry. Matt said he didn’t understand why she felt he needed to take the test, but agreed to take it anyway to stop the arguing. Frankie decided not to tell Matt she saw the texts and images, to give him one last chance to confess before his test. Matt didn’t tell Frankie anything and instead denied anything between him and Katie.

Lie detector test in Coventry

Two days later Matt took his lie detector test in our Coventry office, and failed. He failed on account of lying about cheating on Frankie, and also failed when asked if Katie was just a family friend. Matt confessed to Frankie that he had been flirting with Katie, but still denied that he had cheated on Frankie with her. Having all the evidence she needed, Frankie broke up with Matt and moved out the following week. She thanks our Coventry office for their professionalism and help in her case. She says she can’t wait for a brighter future without Matt, and is happy to be moving on.
